What Causes the Tidal Flooding in Semarang?

The northern coast of Central Java is in danger of sinking. The government already knew the cause and its solutions, but tidal flooding strikes Semarang every year.

IN Tambak Lorok, tidal flooding are routine occurrences. The Java Sea tides twice a year, December-January and April-May. But the tidal flooding in Semarang on May 23, 2022, was unlike the usual. The almost two-meter-high flood has submerged the most densely populated residential on the coast of Central Java’s capital to Tanjung Mas port and paralyzed the economic activities.
